Once the concrete has arrived you will want to lay the concrete immediately. You should spread the ready mixed concrete between the wooden formwork using rakes to distribute it evenly. The top should be about half an inch (15mm) higher than the required finished level.

Please ensure that all corners and edges are completely filled by treading the concrete in or by pushing it down with a piece of heavy wood. You should then start at one end of the concreted area and use a heavy wooden tamping beam to compact the concrete mix. Moving slowly along the slab you should remove any excess concrete. If necessary repeat this operation until the concrete is properly compacted and the surface is level with the top of the formwork.
